Teddy Bear Family
A local family pictured with a prized teddy bear in the early 1900's. In 1902, a cartoon entitled "Drawing the Line in Mississippi" by Clifford Berryman was published in The Washington Post. This image is thought to have started the teddy bear craze in the U.S. In 1903, Theodore Roosevelt stated: "I don't think my name is likely to be worth much in the toy business, but you are welcome to use it."
